Minimap

A condensed, bird's-eye view of the whole document shown beside the scrollbar, so you can see a file's shape at a glance and move around quickly.

Using it

  • A highlighted band shows the portion of the file currently visible in the editor.
  • Click or drag on the minimap to scroll to that part of the document.
  • Hover over the minimap to pop up a preview of the lines under the pointer, so you can peek at a location before jumping to it.

Enable or disable the minimap from the View menu; the choice is remembered between sessions.

Per-window overview

The minimap mirrors the active editor and follows it as you scroll or edit; it is a navigation aid only and never changes the document.
